We were impressed by how thoroughly Buildcheck analyzed our drawings and uncovered issues that would have been costly to fix later. The results gave us so much confidence that we immediately decided to use Buildcheck again for our next project. There’s no better proof of value than choosing a solution repeatedly!
Buildcheck’s comprehensive AI detection system identified 173 issues across architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and specialty systems — preventing costly field modifications and project delays that would have compromised delivery schedules and asset performance.
The project was Shorewood Village, a multi-building rental development in Parksville, BC. Primex Investments is a British Columbia based multifamily developer and investment company, founded in 1972, focused on improving the quality and the supply of multifamily rental housing.
The multi-building rental development required comprehensive design review across multiple disciplines and MEP systems. Traditional manual reviews couldn’t adequately address the coordination risks, and Primex needed an efficient method to prevent delays that could impact the delivery schedule.

Buildcheck reviewed the Shorewood Village drawings, automatically detecting errors, omissions, and inconsistencies within the design documents — and centralized collaboration between project stakeholders in a single, intuitive platform.

With a project of this complexity spanning multiple buildings and numerous MEP systems, we needed absolute confidence in our drawings. Every coordination issue that Buildcheck caught saved us from expensive field modifications and potential delays that could have impacted our delivery schedule.
I supported the Shorewood Village project and witnessed firsthand how practical Buildcheck’s output is and how intuitive the platform is to use. It added real value to our coordination process, and I plan to recommend Buildcheck to my other clients.
Buildcheck identified coordination errors between architectural, structural, and MEP systems that would have resulted in major field modifications. These errors could have delayed the project by up to 27 days.
Detected critical slab thickness mismatches between architectural and structural drawings, and missing fire ratings on life safety walls that would have triggered municipal rejection during inspections.
Critical design conflicts and specification inconsistencies were resolved before construction, preventing expensive mid-construction modifications. These conflicts would have triggered change orders averaging $135,000 once discovered in the field.
Detected duct and plumbing riser conflicts, and riser pipes incorrectly placed outside wall assemblies that would have required extensive rework of building systems and possibly structural modifications.
The 119 moderate issues included missing dimensions, unclear details, and incomplete schedules. These issues would have generated extensive RFI cycles during construction. By preventing these RFIs, Primex saved approximately $73,500.
Identified missing pipe sizing information, absent fixture schedules, and incomplete electrical panel designations that would have required numerous field clarifications.
Multiple MEP coordination issues were identified, including lighting clashes with HVAC diffusers and plumbing/fire protection conflicts. Finding and resolving these issues would have required numerous meetings. The coordination efficiency gains are estimated at $38,000.
Caught multiple instances of lighting fixtures clashing with HVAC diffusers and sprinkler heads across multiple floors, missing electrical connections, and plumbing/fire protection conflicts.
For the Primex project, Buildcheck delivered approximately $1,300 in value per sheet reviewed. Extrapolating across Primex’s typical portfolio of complex mixed-use developments, this represents $1.8M in calculated savings — with larger projects yielding proportionally higher returns.
These figures represent conservative estimates confirmed by Primex Investments’ personnel. Not quantified: accelerated revenue generation, reduced warranty claims, enhanced team efficiency, and the compounding value of systematic quality assurance across multiple projects.
